In this introductory message to the book of Ecclesiastes, Pastor Jason Myers shows how the first two verses of the book (1:1-2) give us our bearings and direction for moving ahead in this book by answering three important questions:
- What type of book is this?
- Who is the author of this book?
- What’s the message of this book?
As we find the answers to these three questions, we not only learn much about the book of Ecclesiastes, but we also learn the meaning of life and how to live wisely. Indeed, the whole focus of this book is to give wisdom for facing the complex realities of this meaningless life.
The starting and ending point for this wisdom is the fear of God (gladly giving Him all of our trust, adoration, and submission). Only by living in the fear of God can we live wise and meaningful lives.
