Scripture – Psalm 24
Psalm 24 is a glorious call to worship. In Psalm 24, David is calling the people of Israel to come worship Yahweh, their covenant God. He is telling them to prepare to be in the presence of the King of Glory by cleaning up their actions, purifying their hearts, and rooting out the false worship of idols.
But David doesn’t just call God’s people to prepare. He motivates them, showing them why they should prepare, by putting the greatness, the holiness, and the righteousness of God on display.
Psalm 24 can be divided into three distinct sections:
- In verses 1-2 we see that Yahweh is the almighty God who creates.
- In verses 3-6 we see that Yahweh is the holy God who saves.
- In verses 7-10 we see that Yahweh is the warrior God who triumphs.
