Scripture – Mark 15:1-5
We are so obsessed with, and committed to, defending ourselves and protecting our rights, that we often fail to love as we ought. We might say we value love, but we often demand and see to it that loving others comes after self-protection. But the heart of love is self-sacrifice, not self-interest. We naturally defend ourselves against most every attack or accusation, even when love calls for us to bear up under such suffering for the good of others.
Not so with Jesus! In this message, Pastor Jason demonstrates the sacrificial love that King Jesus displays through His silence in the face of Pilate’s questioning is amazing, trustworthy, exemplary, and praiseworthy. Jesus’ commitment to sacrifice Himself, instead of defending and protecting Himself, was born out of His love for His Father and His love for His people.
