“Eat, drink, and be merry!” These words can be spoken by a fool or a wise man. It all depends upon why he says it. For the wise man, Solomon, to eat, drink, and find enjoyment in all that God gives us is the right response to the confusing complexities of life. And again, the why of enjoying God’s good gifts to us is all-important. The only right perspective to life’s confusing complexities is seeing and rejoicing that God is on His throne. This frees us to both share God’s good gifts to us and to enjoy them/Him in ways and for reasons that honor Him.
